About OhmConnect Energy
OhmConnect was founded in 2014 in San Francisco, California, with an interesting approach to improving long-term, sustainable energy. Their goal was to create a community that could reduce the amount of energy consumed during high-demand times. To do this, they created a rewards program with a unique business proposition: pay customers to save energy. This program was a win-win for customers and the state’s energy grid.
In early 2022, OhmConnect Energy was launched to expand OhmConnect’s operations to the great state of Texas! While the power grid in Texas is generally reliable, we learned from Snowmageddon all grids can get overwhelmed and fail during spikes in demand. Recognizing this, OhmConnect saw an opportunity to expand and bring its OhmHour Rewards program to Texas. The OhmConnect Energy rewards program encourages people to reduce energy usage during times of excessive demand. During these times, “peaker” or “fast-acting” power plants are brought online to help meet demand. These plants are expensive and are not friendly to the environment. The goal is to prevent these fast-acting plants from being used at all.

We take the guesswork out of switching. Enrolling with OhmConnect Energy takes less than 5 minutes, and once you’re signed up, we handle all the necessary arrangements to start your new service. If you’re currently with another electricity provider, there’s no need to contact them—we’ll take care of notifying them on your behalf. Once your enrollment is complete, you’ll receive an email confirmation from us.

How do I earn referral rewards?

What if I forgot my OhmConnect Energy online username or password?
On the OhmConnect Energy home screen, click “Pay My Bill” to be directed to the online account login page. From there, select “Forgot Password.” Enter the username associated with your account and click “Continue,” then follow the prompts to reset your password.
Is there an early termination fee if I cancel service with OhmConnect Energy?
If you cancel your plan within 14 days of its expiration, there will be no cancelation fee. However, all electricity plans have early termination fees, which may differ by plan. Please take a look at your terms of service to see if you are subject to an early termination fee.
What if I'm stuck in a contract with another electricity provider?
By Texas law, you can switch out of your existing electricity contract without penalty up to 14 days before your contract end date. To find out when your contract ends, review your bill or contact your energy provider directly.
If you’re considering switching before this 14-day window, be sure to check the early termination fee associated with canceling your contract early. In some cases, the savings from switching to a cheaper electricity plan may outweigh the cost of the cancellation fee, making it worthwhile to pay the fee and switch plans.
Will I be charged a free to switch from my current provider to OhmConnect Energy?
If you require expedited service or choose a specific day for your service to begin, your TDSP may assess a fee which will appear on your first month’s bill as a separate line item.
How can I get paid to save energy?
When you sign up for one of our energy plans, you’re automatically enrolled in our energy savings program and can start getting paid for saving energy. It’s easy! From automating savings with smart devices to learning which appliances use the most energy, we’ll help you get big rewards.
Do I need to send a cancellation to my current provider?
No, you don’t need to notify your previous provider. If you’re switching to OhmConnect Energy, we will handle the notification through ERCOT, whether or not you are currently under contract with your previous provider.
If you’re moving to a new location, remember to request a move-out for your previous address with the provider serving that location. If your previous provider is OhmConnect Energy, great! We’ll take care of transferring your service and ensure everything is set up properly. If your previous provider is different, you’ll need to contact them to arrange the move-out.
